Symptoms of cirrhosis of the liver

Cirrhosis of the liver can lead to different symptoms, which may vary in particular cases. Simply having one or more of these symptoms does not necessarily mean that the patient has cirrhosis, as they can be brought on by various medical conditions. Additionally, not having, or not noticing, these symptoms does not mean that a patient doesn't have cirrhosis of the liver. Please keep in mind that this is not a complete list. Abdominal discomfort
Appetite loss
Ascites
Bruising easily
Confusion
Excessive nosebleeds
Frequent infections
Jaundice
Palm redness
Pruritus (itching)

Complications

When cirrhosis progresses, it is possible for complications to occur. Some of the symptoms previously mentioned on this page can also qualify complications of the disease -- however, there are additional possibilities.
